Trimmer/Upholsterer

Job title: Trimmer/Upholsterer
Location: Hedingham Buses, Unit 6-7 Stephenson Road, Clacton on Sea, CO15 4XA
Hours: Monday to Friday days, 40 hours a week
Reporting to: Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities of an Upholsterer include:

1. Repair or replace upholstery in buses.
2. Remove old upholstery from seats and door panels of the vehicle.
3. Measure new padding, bolsters, and covering materials, and cut them to required dimensions, using knife or shears within safety guidelines.
4. Adjust or replace seat bolsters and wooden frame as needed.
5. Sew covering material together, using a sewing machine.
6. Fit covering to seat frame and secure it with glue and tacks.
7. Repair or replace as needed to fit within the customer agreed contract.
8. Refurbish interiors of buses by replacing cushions, drapes, and floor coverings if needed.
9. Ensure safe operation of plant, equipment, and/or hand tools associated with the manufacture, fitting, or assembly of components.

Experience Required for Upholsterer:

1. Previous upholstering experience.
2. Relevant experience using a variety of hand, power, and air tools.
3. Ability to read engineering drawings as needed.
4. Good interpersonal skills.
5. Willingness to undertake or provide training as required.
