Job description

As a Travelling Technician at British Pullman, A Belmond Train, you are part of a team responsible for inspecting, maintaining and repairing various components of our train to ensure its safe and efficient operation. In this role, you will have a deep understanding of train engineering, safety protocols and mechanical and electrical systems. Reporting to the Fleet Maintenance Manager, this is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual with a passion for excellence and storytelling in travel, a strong cultural awareness and an unswerving approach to maintaining standards. Primary Responsibilities Include:

  1. Train preparation and safe dispatch of the train from the depot.
  2. Monitoring the performance of the train while in operation and rectifying any defects as they arise.
  3. Servicing the train between outward and return journeys.
  4. Undertaking maintenance examinations on the Pullman vehicles at the depot.
  5. Overhauling the boiler, servicing all catering and gas equipment and unloading and receiving stores.

What You Bring:

  1. Applicants must have eligibility to work in the UK.
  2. 2-4 years’ relevant experience within a similar role.
  3. O’ Level or GCSE equivalent.
  4. Railway apprenticeship or other recognised apprenticeship (mechanical and electrical) to technician standard for fault finding and rectification.
  5. Excellent knowledge of working on traction and rolling stock in a depot.
  6. Knowledge of railway safety regulations, including appropriate elements of the rule book, Heritage Railway Industry Standards, electricity at work, etc.
