We have an exciting opportunity for a Transport Operations Manager to join our Beckton operations center. We’re always on the lookout for top talent to join our growing business. In fact, we never stand still, we work hard, make quick decisions and deliver to our ambitious goals every day.

What we’re looking for

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Transport Operations Manager to oversee transportation and optimize resources. The successful candidate will ensure our transportation operations are safe, compliant, and meet the needs of our customers. You will collaborate closely with the management team to make optimal use of company resources. Due to the nature of our operations, this is not a typical Monday-Friday, 9-5 position; flexibility is required to align with business volumes. You may need to be on-site during different shifts and weekends as needed. Most importantly, you must be able to make swift operational and strategic decisions with confidence. A solid understanding of the responsibilities of a CPC holder on an Operator's License is essential. Ideally, the candidate is already qualified or actively working towards qualification within the next 6 months.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in all transportation operations.
  • Support the Operations Director with operational cost management, performance reporting, and demonstrate strong cost leadership.
  • Assist the Operations Director in developing peak plans aligned with forecasted volumes and changes in automation to meet financial and resourcing needs.
  • Promote consistency to deliver excellent operational standards.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance reviews, and team discussions.
  • Perform health and safety audits, including risk assessments and the establishment of safe work systems in all transport areas.
  • Prepare detailed shift reports, analyze failed KPIs, and develop evidence-supported action plans for improvement.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for transportation operations.
  • Manage compliance with operator’s license requirements, ensuring all drivers have valid licenses and monitor driver hours.
  • Propose recommendations to enhance fleet efficiency, reduce costs, and improve vehicle utilization by tracking fuel consumption and maintenance expenses.
  • Lead the planning and reactive maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
  • Collaborate with the management team to ensure transportation operations meet customer needs.
  • Analyze existing operational systems/processes and devise strategies to optimize company resources, including researching new technologies and methodologies.
  • Review and recommend changes to route scheduling to enhance efficiencies and maximize sales opportunities.
  • Prioritize tasks based on urgency, importance, and available resources.

Qualification & Experience

Essential:

  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic and a passion for learning in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly organised with excellent multitasking skills and meticulous attention to detail with the ability to think under pressure and respond to changing demands.
  • Experience in transport Operations
  • Named CPC holder on Operators licence with CPC qualification highly desirable
  • PC Literate
  • Full current driving licence
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of operational processes and practices, particularly Transport operations
  • Proven ability to build business knowledge and translate into working practices and procedures

  • Working Pattern: Monday to Friday
  • Work Location: Hybrid remote in London, E6 6LS
