Transport Planner

Location: Bathgate

Job Description: We are currently seeking a Transport Planner in our Bathgate depot. This position will be working within the transport team and will involve all aspects of the transport administration processes and coordination of the day-to-day running of this busy contract.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinating daily transport operations, managing peak and off-peak activity transitions.
  2. Planning inbound and outbound loads while tracking key performance indicators like on-time delivery, revenue, and vehicle utilisation.
  3. Collaborating with the Customer Service Team to ensure deliveries meet customer expectations.
  4. Managing and de-briefing drivers on a daily/weekly basis.
  5. Ensure vehicle checks and defects are completed and recorded via Vehicle Check App.
  6. Scheduling vehicle movements for maximum efficiency.
  7. Meeting daily revenue targets per shift and vehicle, and reporting to the Transport Manager.
  8. Working closely with Line Managers to optimise operational performance.
  9. Identifying growth opportunities within existing contracts.
  10. Ensuring all contracted work aligns with customer agreements.
  11. Managing communication for collection times and delivery schedules.
  12. Ensuring that all TMS systems relating to the contracted deliveries are updated and monitored.
  13. Adherence to policies and procedures within the Business Area.

Requirements:

  1. Experience of planning in the logistics industry is advantageous.
  2. Knowledge of legal compliance including driver's hours and Working Time Directive regulations.
  3. Ability to communicate at all levels.
  4. Strong geographical knowledge of the UK.
  5. Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  6. Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
  7. Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
