Johnsons Hotel Linen is the leading Laundry and Linen Hire Company supplying National Hotel Chains and Independent Hotels across the UK from 10 sites in the UK and Northern Ireland. We are part of the Johnsons Service Group PLC.

Our JHL Cardiff site is seeking an experienced Transport Manager to oversee a busy and challenging department. This is very much a hands-on role, in which you will provide vital support to the business, working closely with other departments to ensure we provide highly accurate, on-time deliveries to our customers. We have an extensive fleet on a fixed delivery and collection schedule to Hotels across South/Mid Wales, and South West England from our Cardiff base.

Role

The post will be responsible for the:

1. Management of the Transport department and provide strategic advice and planning on logistics.
2. Ensuring that all commercial vehicles are maintained and serviced in accordance with current road regulations and legislation.
3. Reviewing, sourcing and monitoring of the fleet maintenance contractor.
4. Ensuring each day's items are loaded/unloaded from the vehicles and delivered and returned to customers.
5. Ensuring that the requirements of the Operators Licence are adhered to at all times.
6. Scheduling of rotas and rest days and planning routes cost-effectively.
7. Recruiting drivers in consultation with the General Manager.
8. Providing on-going training for all drivers from start of service and throughout their employment and regularly reviewing their training and development.
9. Keeping all costs to or below budget within the department.
10. Being prepared to be flexible with hours as operations are 7 days a week, with the occasional need to take weekend calls or attend site.

Essentials

1. Proven experience in Transport Management.
2. Strong communication and management skills. Ability to lead, inspire and motivate a diverse team of drivers.
3. CPC license.
4. Excellent communication skills.
5. Good problem-solving skills.
