We are hiring a Fleet & Planning Excellence Leader to join our team and be responsible for defining and managing policies and procedures to ensure drivers of the fleet are fully compliant with company standards, and that Selecta UK&I is fully compliant with both industry regulations and all the relevant governmental legislation of UK and Ireland.

Role Overview:
The Fleet, Planning, Excellence Leader will oversee the strategic and operational management of the company’s fleet and vending operations, ensuring optimal resource allocation, cost efficiency, and compliance with company standards and regulations. This leadership role combines strategic planning, fleet management, and operational control, with a strong emphasis on data-driven decision-making, team leadership, and continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate will bring expertise in fleet strategy, operational excellence, and planning, while driving efficiency, improving service delivery, and enhancing profitability. As a key member of the leadership team, you will work collaboratively to align resources, budgets, and processes with the company’s overall goals.
Your Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Fleet Management:
- Define and implement the fleet strategy for Selecta UK&I, aligning with the company’s vision and objectives.
- Monitor fleet performance using data from telematics systems, GPS trackers, and maintenance logs to forecast fuel consumption, vehicle maintenance needs, and fleet utilization.
- Oversee fleet operations, including allocation, driver compliance, and supplier management.
- Identify savings and efficiencies, creating business cases to maximize cost reduction and resource utilization.
- Ensure compliance with fleet-related legislation and manage risks across all phases of the business lifecycle.
- Manage company fuel cards, ensuring proper allocation, usage, and controls.
- Deliver fleet-related projects such as new vehicle rollouts, system integration, and cost-saving initiatives.
Planning and Operational Control:
- Act as the SME for Planning and Operational Control, overseeing all associated functions.
- Conduct daily “Vitals” calls with departments and manage teams to promote best practices and collaboration.
- Champion operational excellence by leveraging IoT, robotics, automation, and data analysis to drive performance improvements.
- Oversee telemetry functions, ensuring UAT is performed accurately, and changes are communicated effectively.
- Lead route optimisation to deliver cost savings and efficient planning, ensuring alignment with client contracts and business strategies.
- Refresh audit triggers based on system data to maintain accurate settings.
- Communicate and maintain KPIs for Planning and Control.
Leadership and Strategy:
- Lead teams in achieving Selecta’s strategic goals while maintaining compliance with operational and financial targets.
- Conduct regular 1-to-1 meetings with team members to provide guidance and monitor progress.
- Create development plans for the teams to upskill and drive cross function capabilities.
Minimum Requirements:
- Experience of managing multiple stakeholders, solving operational issues, managing change and resolving conflict.
- Experience of identifying and delivering operational improvements and total cost reduction.
- Ability to handle ambiguity effectively, deal with multiple assignments simultaneously and prioritise and organise their work to be able to meet all deadlines.
- Strong analytical skills, numerical and planning skills.
- Identifying trends, inefficiencies, and areas for cost reduction.
- Using data to forecast fuel consumption, vehicle maintenance needs, and fleet utilization.
- Using software tools to analyse and determine the most efficient routes.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to explain complex or detailed concepts rationally with facts, figures and other supporting evidence and convince parties with differing views of an agreed way forward.
- Ability to think at strategic level and translate into pragmatic plans for implementation.
