Transport First Line Manager

DHL, an award-winning leading supply chain business is seeking a Transport First Line Manager to play a vital role coordinating our daily logistics requirements. To succeed in this role, you should have a comprehensive knowledge of supply chain supervisory practices and a demonstrative understanding of warehouse procedures, including storing goods, dispatching orders and tracking transportation vehicles.

WHAT DOES THE ROLE ENTAIL?

1. To directly assist Management by coordinating and generating the shipping requirements for distribution routes, from warehouse to end-user, maintaining precise and up-to-date reports.
2. To supervise, implement and coordinate productivity by communicating job expectations to direct line reports, ensuring that all deadlines are safely met within allocated time frames, while always maintaining standards of excellence.
3. Reporting into a Transport Shift Manager, this role will sit within the transport team and provide support across daily transport operational activities including but not limited to H&S, Logics, Site Facilities, Compliance and Quality.
4. Play an active part in ensuring MOT and legality of vehicles, and reporting it to the compliance manager.
5. Managing a team of drivers & frontline admin.

WHAT DO WE NEED FROM YOU?

1. People management experience within a Supply Chain / Logistics environment is essential.
2. Transport experience highly advantageous.
3. Comprehensive knowledge of supply chain practices.
4. Previous experience of the preparation and distribution of volume orders.
5. Computer literate with a practical knowledge of logistics software packages.
6. Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to supervise, organise and train direct reports.
