Transport Coordinator

Location: Northampton

Position Type: Permanent

Salary: £25,500

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Transport Coordinator to join our client’s dynamic logistics team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day creation and management of transport plans, ensuring efficient operations across general haulage, palletised freight, and dedicated customer services. Your focus will be on delivering exceptional customer service, optimising transport capacity, and maintaining compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Collaborate with warehouse and transport supervisors to maximise fleet utilisation and efficiency.
2. Develop and manage resource plans to ensure safe, cost-effective operations while minimising maintenance costs.
3. Ensure full driver compliance, including licence checks and adherence to company policies.
4. Monitor and improve key performance indicators (KPIs), implementing corrective actions as needed.
5. Oversee daily operations to meet customer requirements and business objectives.
6. Implement and enhance Transport Management Systems (TMS) to drive operational efficiency.
7. Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety and other statutory regulations.
8. Work closely with warehouse teams and on-site logistics partners to coordinate seamless operations.

Experience & Qualifications

1. Previous experience in transport coordination or a similar logistics role.
2. Strong understanding of fleet maintenance and Quality Management Systems (QMS).
3. Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and continuous improvement methodologies.
4. Proficient in Microsoft Office and Transport Management Systems.
5. Strong decision-making and interpersonal skills.
6. Highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
