Position: Transport Assistant
Location: Stanley House, Anthonys Way, Medway City Estate, Rochester, Kent, ME2 4NF
Line Reporting Manager: CCTV Divisional Manager
Hours: Monday - Friday, Alternate weeks 06:00am-16:00pm & 08:00am-18:00pm (hours unpaid lunch)
Salary: £12.60ph / £29,484 Annually
Principle Duties And Accountabilities
- Liaise with and assist generally other sections in the Company in the delivery of operational and administrative services to internal and external customers.
- Support Senior Transport Teams.
Roles And Responsibilities
Logistics & Planning
- Assist line manager in the delivery of planned and reactive services to industrial, commercial and domestic customers in accordance with established procedures.
- Assist line manager to Monitor and analyse data to identify trends, challenges, and opportunities for operational improvement.
- Be aware and monitoring of daily vehicle revenue.
- Take responsibility for managing planning of works in line manager's absence.
Customer Service
- Receive service requests verbally or electronically, providing advice and prices to customers, and coordinate the relevant resources to meet agreed timescales and optimize performance.
- Address/resolve complaints and issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Liaise with other departments within the organisation and assist in the delivery of operational and administrative services to internal and external customers.
Data Processing & Administration
- Managing the in-house systems and databases (Weighsoft, CTrack, Ortec, AAIR).
- Managing and maintaining office files.
- Ensure that all jobs are documented correctly.
- Take responsibility for drivers' timesheet/hours in manager's absence.
Health & Safety
Section 7 of the Health & Safety at Work Act (1974) states the general duties of employees at work. It shall be the duty of every employee while at work to:

Transport Assistant Health And Safety Responsibilities Are
- Understand and comply with the company health and safety policy.
- Influence and promote a positive health, safety culture within the organisation and lead by example.
- Ensure all works activities are carried out in a safe manner and in accordance with legislative, company requirements and the risk assessments.
- Ensure housekeeping of the works and welfare areas are fully maintained.
- Carry out comprehensively and complete in full, all company required documentation.
- Report all health, safety and environmental incidents to the Line Manager within 2 hours of it happening.
- Ensure awareness of the company fire and first aid arrangements, and emergency evacuation procedure.
Qualifications / Competency
- Previous experience including fleet resources.
- Previous experience in the transport, waste or logistics industry desired.
- Ability to take on responsibility for own workload.
- Proficient using Microsoft Office systems including Word and Excel.
- Good communicator, able to provide clear oral and written advice to field teams and management as required.
- Organizing and planning skills to ensure work programmes are established and followed.
- Able to work with a minimum of supervision.
- Reliable, responsible, numerate and commercially aware.
- Receptive to training and new ways of working.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
