Job description

Our client is seeking a dedicated Transactional Finance Manager to join their expanding finance team in Manchester City Centre. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone with robust leadership skills, a comprehensive background in transactional finance, and a passion for process enhancement. You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, ensuring precision, efficiency, and compliance across the team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and support a small team; providing guidance, training, and regular performance feedback
  • Oversee all transactional finance processes including supplier payments, invoice processing, bank reconciliations, and customer collections
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of supplier invoices and payment runs
  • Monitor customer accounts and support effective credit control to reduce aged debt
  • Maintain and develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers/customers
  • Review and improve current processes and controls, driving efficiencies within the team
  • Support month-end close processes related to AP and AR, including reconciliations and reporting
  • Act as the first point of escalation for queries or disputes
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Assist with audit preparation and year-end reporting as required
What you bring:
  • Proven experience in a similar transactional finance or finance operations role
  • Previous experience managing or supervising a small finance team
  • Strong understanding of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Confident in working with finance systems and Excel (intermediate to advanced level)
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing deadlines
  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset with strong attention to detail
