Job description

Job Summary

East Dunbartonshire Council is looking to appoint a Trainee Leisure Assistant as part of a Scottish Government funded work experience programme.

The candidate should have an understanding of a good work ethic. Working as part of the team, the role includes assisting in a range of duties in wet, dry, and other areas within leisure services including cleaning, control of facilities, assembling and dismantling of equipment, and ensuring general safety and behavior of the public to prevent injury.

They should have a genuine interest and use this opportunity to gain essential experience. Previous experience is not essential as training will be provided. The preferred candidate will be required to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme.

This is a temporary role for 6 months for those who are parents with dependent children with barriers to employment or unemployed for 12 months or more with barriers to employment. Vacancies are conditional depending on funding.

Where the post you are applying for is considered Regulated Work under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2020, successful candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to confirmation of employment being made by East Dunbartonshire Council. East Dunbartonshire Council will meet the cost of the check.
