Job description

We are seeking a Trainee HSQE Advisor to join our client, a leading supplier of fabricated steel bridges and steel composite bridges, as well as specialist steel refurbishment contractors. Based in Lanarkshire, this role offers the opportunity to work across a range of projects, including on-site strengthening works, specialist installation, and heavy fabrication of workshop-built rail, road, and footbridges.

The HSQE Advisor will play a key role in ensuring compliance with health, safety, Quality and environmental regulations, supporting a proactive safety culture, and providing guidance on best practices across rail, highways, and civil engineering projects. This position is ideal for an individual looking to embark on a career within safety or similarly a person who is in the early stages of their safety career. It would be preferable if the candidate had experience in industries such as civil engineering, rail, or highways. Candidates should ideally hold a Nebosh certificate or be willing to work towards this. Quality training would be provided as required.

Trainee Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental Advisor Package:

  • Salary: 35,000 – 40,000
  • 5,400 Car Allowance

Trainee Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental Advisor Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining health, safety, quality & environmental policies and procedures for rail, highways, and civil engineering projects.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, quality and environmental regulations, keeping up to date with industry standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments and site inspections to identify hazards and implement control measures.
  • Support the delivery of health, safety, quality & environmental training for employees and subcontractors to promote a strong safety culture.
  • Investigate and report on incidents, accidents, near misses, and ensure corrective actions are taken.
  • Provide guidance and support to site teams and management, ensuring best practices are followed.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance workplace safety and compliance.
  • Ensure training is up to date & meets current requirements.
  • Conduct audits with external bodies ensuring policies & certification are in compliance with regulations.

Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental Advisor Requirements:

  • NEBOSH qualification (preferable).
  • Ideally a minimum of 3 years' experience in civil engineering, rail, highways, or construction.
  • Good knowledge of health & safety regulations and industry best practices.
  • Ability to conduct risk assessments and site audits effectively.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to engage and influence teams.
  • Full UK driving licence.
