A fantastic training opportunity in Echocardiography at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals – 18-month fixed term contract full time training post.We offer a high intensity, focused Echo training programme. We are extremely keen to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated individual that would like to pursue a career in Echocardiography. The training programme is open to cardiac physiologists who have an interest in specialising in Echocardiography but also other individuals with a healthcare or science background who would like to progress into diagnostic cardiology.
You will work alongside a very established and experienced senior team who are absolutely committed and dedicated to training in addition to our successful and current trainees.
We are seeking a candidate who is driven and self-motivated to achieve success in this field. Alongside the expert hands-on training, the candidate is expected to undertake a Post-graduate Certificate in Clinical Echocardiography and work towards BSE Accreditation Level 2 with the aim of completion by the end of the programme. Candidates from a non-physiologist background will be expected and supported to undertake the equivalence process with AHCS (Academy for Healthcare Science) on completion of Echocardiography training.
Main Responsibilities:
- This is a training role, and as such the main responsibilities are achieving competency in Echocardiography.
- The post holder will follow a structured training plan to meet both with clearly defined targets, expectations and regular assessments to complete British Society of Accreditation.
- The post holder will be involved in performing echocardiograms which requires intimate contact with patients.
- Successfully complete and pass the Post Graduate Certificate in Echocardiography.
- Work towards and successfully achieve Level 2 BSE accreditation.
- Strong commitment to Self-directed learning.
- Responsible to both the Echo lead of the department and Echo training lead.
- Communicate and interact effectively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure a positive patient experience.
- To maintain accurate patient data including accurate documentation and record keeping in line with Trust policies and have full regard to patient confidentiality.
- Maintain mandatory training for the role.
- Commitment to working within teams.
- To participate in personal individual performance review.
