Qualifications

Trainee Drainage Engineer
Metro Rod Sussex
Tunbridge area
Salary £24,000 - £28,000 DOE plus overtime & on-call

Metro Rod work with the likes of Tesco, Marks and Spencer, Mitie, Clarion, Axa, Wetherspoons and many more in the FM, Social Housing, Property Management, Retail, Industrial and Leisure sectors. The services are provided by over 60 franchisees with geographical coverage across the UK. We've been clearing and unblocking drains for more than thirty years and we're proud of our reputation for quality service and customer satisfaction. Major companies and leading high street names trust us to deal with all their regular drain maintenance and we'll bring the same high standards of service to tackle your drain blockage.


Within the Waste & Water Services Division of Franchise Brands, is also Willow Pumps and Filta. Two expanding businesses that focus on sewage pumps and commercial kitchen solutions. Together, the brands provide a complete one-stop shop for keeping water and waste flowing.


What does it entail?

This role is perfect for someone with some technical hands-on experience who is interested in a career within the drainage industry.


We are looking for someone with a background in ground working, civils or engineering. We will provide training and help develop you into a Drainage Engineer.


  • Carrying out a range of services associated with the cleaning, clearance, repair, and maintenance of our customers' drains
  • Operation of High-Pressure Water Jetting Equipment in line with rigorous safety standards
  • Carrying out surveys
  • Providing an exceptional standard of customer service and technical expertise
  • Accurately recording work/job details via a range of bespoke internal/client systems and apps
  • Communicate effectively with high profile commercial and domestic clients and Metro Rod Support Centre colleagues to ensure excellent customer service is always provided
  • Being part of an on-call rota to help service our clients 24/7 / 365 days a year. This would be one week in four- variable according to the business needs

What are we looking for?

  • High pressure water jetting and CCTV Surveying with experience in commercial drainage beneficial but not essential as full training provided for the right candidate
  • Excellent problem-solving ability with sound technical knowledge
  • Have a positive, flexible, can-do attitude
  • Want to be part of a growing and progressive business
  • Be willing to work some unsociable hours
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Must live in the West Yorkshire area
