We are looking for an experienced diagnostic radiographer to join our growing team of reporting radiographers at WSFT. We currently support radiographer reporting across various specialties including MSK plain film, CT, MRI, Fluoroscopy, and Nuclear Medicine. We are now looking to introduce plain film chest reporting to further complement this establishment. WSFT Radiographers are highly valued by our Radiologists who share interesting cases and learning experiences. The reporting radiographers contribute significantly towards our achievement of key performance indicators.
The WSFT Radiology department is proud to deliver a high-quality service which consistently receives excellent patient feedback. Our staff survey feedback shows that the department provides good wellbeing support in an environment that offers good CPD/staff development opportunities.
This is an exciting time to join WSFT with the opening of our new Community Diagnostic Centre in Newmarket in December 2024, which will see the addition of CT and MRI scanning on the site as well as the existing X-Ray and Ultrasound services delivered there. We are also continuing to plan for our new acute hospital expected to open in 2030.
We are looking to invest in the professional development of an experienced diagnostic radiographer seeking to pursue a career in image reporting. If you feel you meet all of the essential criteria in the person specification and could fulfill the job description, delivering excellent patient care and a high-quality service, then this could be the ideal opportunity for you.
The successful candidate will be based as an employee within the West Suffolk Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a band 6 trainee reporting radiographer. You will be committing to train as a chest reporting radiographer, meeting the clinical and academic requirements of the course. You will develop and maintain knowledge, skills, and competencies related to the role through completion of an academic training programme delivered by the University of Suffolk (UoS). You will work as a band 6 radiographer clinically, alongside the multidisciplinary team within the radiology department whilst training to be a reporting radiographer under the supervision of an appropriate mentor. You will be expected to work full time to achieve the requirements of the course and associated governance activities. There will be a minimum of 20% protected study time (7.5 hours/1 day per week). The post will be band 6 during the training period, moving to band 7 upon completion of the academic course, all required competencies, and the ability to work autonomously.
