Job description

WP Thompson are looking for an able Trade Mark Paralegal to join their busy trade mark team based in their London office. The team are working on a broad portfolio of domestic and international clients including major household names and dealing with both contentious and prosecution matters.

The successful client would ideally have strong experience in the following areas:

  1. Management of Fee earner’s in-boxes and support in tracking deadlines and prioritisation;
  2. Preparing cost estimates for trade mark applications in the UK, EU, WIPO and worldwide, and Oppositions;
  3. UKIPO, EUIPO and WIPO practice and requirements for filing forms and paying fees;
  4. Drafting, filing and instructing trade mark and design applications, and independent preparation of all official UKIPO, EUIPO and WIPO Forms;
  5. Drafting and filing recordal of assignments and changes of names and addresses;
  6. Tracking, managing and filing renewals;
  7. Preparing the following documents/letters using templates: reporting publication/registration of trade marks, cease and desist letters, Examination reports, Agreements/Letters of Undertakings, search reports and Oppositions;
  8. Preparing watch reports;
  9. Preparing and compiling evidence for litigation and contentious proceedings;
  10. Assisting Fee earners in managing deadlines - sending reminders and taking standard action according to set procedure;
  11. Arranging meetings and conference schedules (INTA, Marques etc).

We are looking for someone who is proactive, a fast learner and keen to work as part of a wider trade mark team.

You will either be a CITMA qualified Paralegal or be prepared to complete the qualification and have at least 3 years’ experience within a busy trade mark team.

WP Thompson has a flat structure and everyone is encouraged to contribute to improving the firm’s operations and client service delivery. We are very business focused, but alongside this engender a friendly and open environment.

WP Thompson offers a hybrid working policy of up to 2 days a week working from home.
