Position: Trade Compliance Governance and Control - Senior Manager
Location: London
Job Summary: We are hiring a Trade Compliance Governance & Controls Lead, with 15+ years' experience in supporting large, complex organizations in designing and implementing controls, control monitoring, training & communications. The Trade Compliance Governance & Controls Lead plays an important part in promoting Accenture's compliance with international trade control requirements and regulations in countries where Accenture does business and helps our Legal team and business to understand trade and import and export control related risks, compliance, and program controls.
This role leads all aspects of Trade Compliance Governance & Controls and is responsible for the strategic design of the offshore Trade Compliance Hub. They lead the team to execute:
Denied Party Screening
Trade Compliance review of Ventures & Acquisitions and managing the Trade Compliance requirements within the Post Merger Integration process
New Business Advisory & Contracting Queries
Training, Communications, Policy & Procedures
Monitoring, Audit & Corrective Actions
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the design of control enhancements and process improvements (through collaboration with Legal advisors, and in some cases Outside Counsel)
Establish the Governance & Controls Function within Trade Compliance including:
Detailed design of the Function to execute controls including Denied Party Screening, Acquisition controls and New Business Advisory within & across Geographies
Recruit and manage team to manage & execute controls
Designing how the team will collaborate with the broader Trade Compliance team to effectively meet Business demand and deliver Accenture 360 value
Ensures the performance of the team, continuous process improvement and effective resolution of issues with appropriate escalation to the broader Trade Compliance team (Regional Legal Counsel and the Export Controls Centre of Excellence)
Coordinates with Ethics & Compliance management to provide leadership and maintain an environment that promotes compliance with applicable trade control laws and regulations
Delivering training & upskilling across the team to allow individuals to support multiple areas and build a collaborative working environment, fostering career development and retention
Provide regular reporting on key controls to Trade Compliance Leadership team, providing action focused insights
Working with internal stakeholders to build trade compliance and monitoring tools to help Accenture executives flag, escalate and mitigate trade-related risks
Identifying Trade Compliance training needs across business areas and geographies, delivering and executing an effective training and communications plan
Responsible for defining & delivering the book of work for cyclical activities including:
Regular review and refresh of GTC Program Manual (including detailed policies, business guidance materials, desktop procedures and standardized documentation e.g. templates, L1, L2, L3 questionnaire, intake forms)
Regular review, refresh and execution of the GTC Training & Communications Program
Regular review, refresh and execution of the GTC Monitoring & Assurance Program
Key Relationships:
Legal, including Global Services Legal, Sales & Delivery, Contracting, Geographic Compliance and Corporate Counsel
Ethics & Compliance Monitoring Team
Ventures & Acquisitions Team
Global Learning Team
Corporate Functions, Business Stakeholders, Market Unit leadership
Related subject matter experts (e.g., analytics, government compliance)
Outside counsel/external law firms
Qualifications:
Education: University degree as a minimum
Work Requirements:
Limited travel required as needed (usually <10%).
Must have ability to effectively work with others remotely, manage a schedule with global clients and engage in contract negotiation.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
Experience and knowledge of International Trade Controls
Experience developing control programs, including preparing policies and internal controls; developing and conducting training; managing, prioritizing and escalating issues
Proven track record in managing complex change programs and process improvements
Ability to prioritize and make decisions as well as synthesize complex legal analysis into clear recommendations.
Significant experience skillfully managing multiple stakeholders/business interests, including dealing with senior management, promoting consistency of approach whilst remaining independent
Experience leading hybrid teams, operating across multiple locations
Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills with the ability to interface, and develop relationships, with all levels of management and staff, and work cross-culturally
Highly motivated and proactive, with the ability to articulate company vision and policy, and to seek out areas of risk and priority
Able to assess risk and recommend action on a proportionate risk-based approach
Able to synthesize complex scenarios and present findings and recommendations to leadership in articulate and visionary presentations
Ability to consistently apply good judgment and prioritize
Adapts nimbly to changing needs within the business
Fluent in English
