Town Planner (Assistant up to Associate Director)

We are proud to be partnered with an ambitious consultancy, based in Buckinghamshire, with a pro-active focus on putting their people and client's needs side-by-side. This role could suit someone who is ideally MRTPI (or can do it soon) up to Associate Director-level. As the team is lean and growing, the personality/culture fit is more important than the level.

This opportunity has arisen due to a growing workload, and the consultancy also operates in other services including land and development agency, rural advisory and general practice. They are known for their commitment to high quality work and integrity, serving a wide range of clients, from major PLC developers to boutique firms, and covering various sectors, all across the Central region.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

1. For more senior candidates, leading on projects, assisting in delegating and starting to take on a leadership role; for more junior candidates - assisting seniors on major projects and managing own caseload of smaller and medium-scale applications.
2. Continuing to maintain relationships with clients in providing accurate advice and communicating effectively.
3. Dealing with pre-applications and managing planning applications through the development process.
4. Promoting sites through the Local Plan process.
5. Communicating and negotiating with clients, stakeholders and local authorities regularly.

Ideally, you should possess:

1. Between 18 months up to twelve years of experience in planning, preferably within consultancy, although local planning authority (LPA) experience will be considered.
2. A strong skill set and expertise in development management and strategic planning.
3. MRTPI or close to submitting.
4. Excellent written communication skills and strong interpersonal abilities.
