Qualifications

Job description

Job Title: Toolroom Engineer

Location: Redditch, Worcestershire

Contract Details: Temp To Perm, Full Time, 39 hours per week Monday to Friday

Working Hours: Monday to Thursday 8am to 5pm and Friday 8am to 1pm

Salary: £30,000 to £35,000 per annum (equivalent to £14.80 to £17.26 per hour)

Responsibilities:

  1. Manufacture, repair, and maintain all tooling, dies, jigs, fixtures, and fittings
  2. Recommend improvements to current tooling to facilitate SMED techniques
  3. Initiate and implement tooling improvements to optimise production processes
  4. Identify and implement process improvements to increase output and efficiencies
  5. Conduct routine servicing and regrinding of press tools following last-off procedure
  6. Attend breakdowns, identify faults, and solve problems with minimal downtime
  7. Evaluate each job and determine if it can be repaired in the press or requires essential maintenance and repair work in the tool room
  8. Estimate the time required for each job and anticipate the consequences of failing to meet deadlines
  9. Identify and escalate any potential safety issues or concerns
  10. Report breakdown root causes, equipment faults, and concerns to management
  11. Ensure all work is carried out to a high standard

Essential (Knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience):

  1. Educated to degree level or equivalent
  2. Apprenticeship trained
  3. Experience of working to tight production timescales
  4. Experience in a manufacturing environment
  5. Previous tool making experience
  6. Knowledge of SMED techniques
  7. Proficient in measurement techniques
  8. Ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings
  9. Good communication and problem-solving skills
  10. Proactive and able to work under pressure
  11. Diligent with a strong focus on health and safety

Desirable (Knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience):

  1. Additional qualifications or certifications in relevant areas

Technologies:

Proficient in the use of various tool room machinery and tools
