Flogas has been highly acquisitive in executing this strategy, investing over £50 million in the recent acquisitions of Protech, DTGen and Equity Energies, bringing together a compelling proposition of products, technologies, and services to support customers in navigating their energy needs through the transition and to execute their strategies in regard to energy cost, security and carbon emissions on their own pathway to net zero.

Flogas Britain has revenues of around £400 million and employs over 1,500 people across its multi-site operation across Britain with its headquarters in Syston, Leicestershire.

Job Purpose

The People Advisor will be responsible for providing expert HR guidance and support to employees and management across the organisation. This role will focus on employee relations, policy implementation, performance management, and fostering a positive workplace culture. The People Advisor will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure alignment with organisational goals and HR best practices.

Reporting to the Head of People Services, this role has responsibility for the delivery of various aspects of operational People support, working in conjunction with and having the support of the People Services Team and the People Business Partners.

Accountabilities

Employee Relations:

  • Providing commercial advice / counsel to the business in respect of employee relation matters.
  • Accountable for ensuring that the business manages employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, grievances, and disciplinary procedures.
  • Provide coaching to managers on people-related issues, developing their skills and experience to enable & empower them to lead their people effectively and consistently.
  • Mediate and facilitate resolutions in employee relations matters, including disciplinary actions, harassment and discrimination allegations, and workplace conflicts.
  • Provide guidance to the People Team in addressing employee relations issues, ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Provide advice and guidance on occupational health referrals and all absence management-related issues across the organisation.
  • Manage long-term sick colleagues, providing tools for managers to complete welfare meetings and engaging occupational health where required.
  • Full case management providing high-quality and timely customer service, ensuring all requests are fully understood.
  • Expert in understanding HR policy and process.
HR Policy & Compliance:
  • Ensure adherence to HR policies, employment laws, and best practices.
  • Assist in the development, review, and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Stay updated on changes in employment legislation and provide recommendations accordingly.
  • Provision of regular employment law updates to the People Team, ensuring they are always kept up to date.
Management Information (MI) & Reporting:
  • Record and track cases, assign severity, and follow through to ensure each case is resolved and SLAs can be measured and improved.
  • Work within the SLA and keep the customer informed of expected completion date, including when the item is escalated for action.
  • Identify patterns and trends and turn those insights into tangible programs and initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee relations records, ensuring compliance with data protection and privacy regulations.
  • Delivery of / continuous improvement of People processes & procedures, maximising standardisation, and efficiency.
  • Provide data regarding casework and learnings back to the business.
  • Stay updated on employment laws, regulations, and industry best practices related to employee relations, making recommendations for policy updates or changes as necessary.
People Team Collaboration:
  • Contribute to, deliver, and lead on key priorities of the People Plan.
  • Work closely with People Admin to ensure the production and sign-off of employee letters & correspondence relating to all the above, including writing complex correspondence such as outcome letters.
  • Support the People Business Partners with management & delivery of People projects.
  • Develop effective relationships across the business.
Job Holder Requirements

Key Skills & Qualifications:
  • CIPD qualification or equivalent (desirable).
  • Proven experience in an HR advisory or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
Technical Skills:
  • Knowledge of employment law.
  • Coaching line managers regarding employee relations.
  • Counsel to stakeholders.
