Leading a team of intelligence specialists and threat hunters, your role at BT is pivotal in helping us achieve this. Your team will focus on building coverage of the high priority Nation State threats to BT and ensuring we have the insights to proactively implement security responses. This role follows hybrid working (3 days in the office) in either Bristol, Ipswich, or Manchester.

SC Clearance eligibility is advantageous.

What you’ll be doing

1. Leading a multiskilled team of intelligence specialists to deliver operational outcomes.
2. Representing BT as the Subject Matter Expert on Cyber Threat Intelligence; delivering outputs to customers, CISOs, staff, and the Cyber Security community.
3. Managing intelligence and threat hunting responsibilities as a core part of the incident response team to investigate and respond to security incidents.
4. Maintaining high levels of awareness of the latest threat intelligence and cybersecurity trends to fill the role of CTI SME within a wide range of Security engagements.
5. Leading collaboration activities with internal teams across the organisation to provide further internal understanding of potential adversaries and attack vectors.
6. Delivering verbal presentations and threat briefs, in-person and virtually, to internal and external stakeholders at all seniority levels.
7. Managing relationships within the wider Information Security and Intelligence community. Representing BT in a wide range of forums to drive impactful collaboration across the Telco and National Security communities, including direct engagement with NCSC and the NCA.
8. Owning vendor relationships - driving effective integration and usage of vendor platforms to drive best value and effect for BT.
9. Developing the skills and knowledge of your team as CTI practitioners.
10. Shaping the development of CTI and threat hunting capability within BT.
11. Acting as a senior intelligence practitioner for the team, sharing best practices and oversight of intelligence outputs to ensure the highest quality.
12. Ensuring that BT takes a threat-led approach to cyber security, with intelligence having a demonstrable impact on security decision-making at all levels of the organisation.

Who are we looking for?

Skills/Experience

Must Have

1. Proven experience in leading threat intelligence teams and managing technical staff.
2. Track record of delivering measurable impact from intelligence.
3. Holds current relevant professional qualifications in Intelligence and/or Information Security (e.g., CREST CTIM) – or willing to work towards.
4. Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, threat landscapes, and attack vectors.
5. Experience of building intelligence coverage of sophisticated nation-state threats.
6. Knowledge of intelligence tooling.
7. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
8. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
9. Proactive approach to team management and supporting cross-department initiatives.
10. Demonstrable experience of proactive, operational delivery in a fast-paced security environment.
11. Knowledge and understanding of current security threats, threat models, frameworks, and common mitigations.
12. Demonstrable management skills, with an ability to communicate effectively and develop staff.
13. Intelligence reporting SME able to deliver high-quality products and maintain standards and quality across the team.

Nice to Have

1. Knowledge of commercial intelligence platforms.
2. Experience within another Telecommunications/CNI environment.
3. Network analysis skills.
4. Experience in generating threat intelligence from technical data sources.
