Job Summary
Cambridgeshire Community Services is looking for an enthusiastic, motivated Safeguarding Lead who would like an opportunity to be a part of a dynamic, friendly and supportive Safeguarding Team.
If you would like to be part of a Team that plays a crucial role in supporting health practitioners across multiple disciplines within their practice to ensure they can safeguard children and young people, this is the role for you.
A working knowledge of the Working Together 2023 and knowledge and experience of working with Vulnerable Families and multi-agencies would be an expectation of a practitioner applying for this role.
This role is based in the Bedfordshire area; however, there is an expectation of travelling to meet the needs of practitioners.
Main Duties of the Job
- To lead on the development of defined areas of safeguarding practice as determined by the Named Professional and Head of Safeguarding.
- To provide support and leadership within and across Cambridgeshire Community Services on all matters relating to safeguarding children and identifying when adults are at risk.
- To embed the Think Family approach and to liaise with the expertise of the adult safeguarding team when working with adults at risk within the family environment.
- To contribute to the design and implementation of the Think Family approach promoting evidence-based practice in safeguarding within Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust (CCS).
- To support the robust and effective clinical governance of safeguarding children and adults at risk processes in place.
- To provide safeguarding advice, support, and safeguarding supervision to frontline staff working with children, young people, and their families and to signpost to the adult safeguarding team when adults at risk have been identified.
- To be an integral part of the Locality leadership team, working alongside other Band 7 colleagues in the office environment under the leadership of the Named Professional to promote a high-quality, efficient, and effective service.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
Essential:
- Registered Nurse/Health Visitor and/or Specialist Degree in Community or Public Health / Midwife/ Registered with Social Work England
- Evidence of professional development
- Degree or equivalent
- Evidence of further training/education in Safeguarding Children
Desirable:
- NSPCC or other Trust accredited safeguarding supervision training or other relevant training
- Recognised professional teaching qualification
Experience
Essential:
- Relevant post qualification experience working in a specialist practitioner role
- Experience of working autonomously in their role working with children and young people
- Relevant experience of safeguarding children and working with Families
- Demonstrates a good understanding of the Think Family model and is able to identify adults at risk
Desirable:
- Experience of working in MASH or multi-agency setting
- Experience of providing clinical supervision and mentoring
- Experience of managing clinical audit
- Awareness of patient/public involvement in service development
Knowledge & Skills
Essential:
- Demonstrates an ability to identify and manage safeguarding concerns within current practice
- Demonstrates an ability to remain child-focused and facilitate the Think Family approach with health practitioners
- Demonstrates an ability to advise other agencies regarding the health needs of people
- Demonstrates professional curiosity and the ability to manage appropriate professional challenge in safeguarding work
Desirable:
- IT Skills
- Supervision skills both individual and group facilitation skills
