Job Description:

We are seeking an exceptional Textiles Teacher to join our dedicated team. In this role, you will:

  • Deliver engaging and innovative Textiles lessons that cater to a range of learning styles and abilities, fostering a love of textiles and design in our students.
  • Create a stimulating and supportive learning environment where students feel confident to experiment, create, and develop their textile skills.
  • Teach a variety of textile techniques, including weaving, knitting, sewing, and surface design, ensuring students gain a solid foundation in Textiles.
  • Incorporate theoretical knowledge of textile history, design principles, and material properties into your lessons, providing students with a well-rounded understanding of Textiles.
  • Assess students' practical skills and theoretical understanding through a variety of formative and summative assessment methods.
  • Contribute to the development of the Textiles curriculum and departmental resources, ensuring our teaching remains current and engaging.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to share best practice and ensure the highest standards of Textiles teaching.

We are looking for a Textiles Teacher who has:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • A degree in Textiles, Fashion Design, or a related field.
  • Experience teaching Textiles at the secondary level.
  • A strong understanding of the UK National Curriculum for Design & Technology, with a specialism in Textiles.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.
  • A passion for Textiles and a commitment to inspiring students.
  • A creative and engaging teaching style.
