A forward-thinking secondary school in Sutton Coldfield is seeking an enthusiastic Food/Textile Technician to join their team in January 2024. Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and organise materials, ingredients, and equipment for practical lessons in both Food and Textiles.
  • Assist students during practical sessions, ensuring safe and efficient use of equipment and materials.
  • Maintain cleanliness, order, and safety in the Food and Textile classrooms, following health and safety guidelines.
  • Manage and monitor stock levels, ordering supplies as needed to ensure smooth lesson delivery.
  • Provide technical support to teachers and students, troubleshooting equipment when necessary.
  • Support the display of student work and contribute to events such as exhibitions and open evenings.


What We're Looking For:

  • Technical Expertise: Previous experience in a Food or Textile environment, ideally within an educational setting.
  • Organised and Reliable: Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Safety Conscious: A thorough understanding of health and safety protocols in practical learning environments.
  • Team Player: A collaborative approach, working closely with teachers and students to support learning outcomes.
  • Adaptable and Creative: Willingness to contribute ideas and solutions to enhance the learning experience.


Desirable Attributes:

  • Experience using sewing machines, embroidery equipment, or kitchen appliances in an educational context.
  • Knowledge of food hygiene practices and textile handling procedures.
  • Relevant qualifications in Food Technology, Textiles, or a related field.
