THE ROLE
We are looking for a Tester who will play a key role in product design and development and is responsible for writing, executing and reporting on tests. The Tester provides insight into the state of a product throughout development and deployment.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Test Execution and Planning
    • Write and execute functional and exploratory tests to assess product performance.
    • Plan, estimate, and report on test activities.
    • Raise descriptive, concise, and useful defect reports and lead defect triage meetings.
  2. Automation and Tools
    • Design, implement, and maintain automated test scripts using Playwright, Cucumber, and TypeScript or similar tech stack.
    • Support tool evaluations and framework enhancements.
  3. Process Improvement and Support
    • Contribute to test process improvements and support change through experimentation and analysis.
    • Troubleshoot critical bugs, identify their underlying cause, and resolve them with other teams.
  4. Collaboration and Communication
    • Ensure features are clearly understood, validated early, and verified upon completion by working with product teams and stakeholders.
    • Communicate status and issues to various stakeholders, adapting appropriately.
  5. Mentorship and Community Engagement
    • Mentor junior team members and share knowledge within the test community.

WHAT DOES IT TAKE?

Essential

  • Experience designing and executing effective functional, systems, and regression tests.
  • Analytical and detail-oriented approach to problem-solving and solution design.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to learn new technologies and practices.
  • Ability to create, adapt, and execute effective test strategies.
  • Creative problem-solving and innovation skills.
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills, with the ability to work closely in cross-functional teams.
  • Expertise in test automation and its role in agile delivery.
  • Hands-on experience with Playwright, API testing, database validation, Cucumber, and TypeScript, or similar stack.
  • Knowledge of product/defect/test case management systems.
  • Advocacy for good user experience, usability, and accessibility.

Desirable

  • Information Systems Examinations Board (ISEB), International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) or Certified Agile Tester certification.
  • Relevant degree.

Salary: Up to £48,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience.

Location: London - Television Centre
Working Pattern: Hybrid Working (Mix of working from home plus two/three days a week in the office).
