Telecommunications Engineer

Location: Quinton, Birmingham

Salary: £35,000 – £40,000

Working Days: Monday – Friday

My client based in Quinton is looking for a Telecommunications Engineer to join their team. As a Telecommunications Engineer, you will work with a dedicated team to provide a high level of technical expertise and customer service to our clients. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in telecoms or IT support with a desire to learn new skills and progress in their career.

Responsibilities:

1. Provide excellent customer service, exceeding customer expectations.
2. Use Supplier Portals to manage systems and faults.
3. Generate, monitor, and handle customer requests, issues, and fault reports.
4. Support the technical lead on installation projects.
5. Liaise with customers and 3rd party IT professionals to ensure quality delivery and support of solutions.
6. Produce detailed technical documentation on system installation and support procedures.
7. Provide customer training.

Skills & Experience:

1. Understanding of VoIP, SIP, RTP, TCP & UDP protocols, Layer 2 and 3 routing, VLANs, QoS, DNS, DHCP, LANs & WANs, and familiarity with using diagnostic tools such as Wireshark.
2. Experience or knowledge of telecommunications solutions including call center and call recording applications (e.g., Gamma Horizon, Microsoft Teams, Splicecom, Wildix, and NEC) – full training provided where necessary.
3. Minimum of 2 years IT or Telecoms support experience.
4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both in person and online.
5. Excellent problem-solving, attention to detail, and analytical skills.
6. Experience in high-volume, fast-paced environments requiring teamwork and flexibility.
7. Ability to track and keep projects on schedule, manage tight deadlines, and shift priorities at a moment’s notice.
8. Full UK driving license.
