Job description

We’re looking for a freelance technologist to support the development of multi-category hard goods for a luxury retailer based in London — covering home accessories, kitchenware, tabletop, stationery, toys, travel goods, and seasonal gifting.

Suitable candidates must be immediately available and not on notice.

You’ll manage product compliance, safety, and quality from concept through to customer use, working closely with Buying, Merchandising, and Design teams, as well as third-party suppliers. The role involves overseeing product testing, supplier management, and technical processes — ensuring everything meets both legal requirements and premium brand standards.

What we’re looking for:
  1. Proven experience in technical roles within hard goods, homeware, or lifestyle categories
  2. Strong knowledge of product safety, quality, and legal compliance
  3. Confident communicator with excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
  4. Hands-on experience managing suppliers and outsourced production
  5. Familiar with sustainability, CSR, and ethical standards

As a freelancer you will receive a competitive day rate, paid weekly, alongside paid holiday entitlement and the opportunity to join a pension scheme.

This is a temporary opportunity, likely to be filled quickly — so apply today to avoid missing out.
