Job Summary: As a Laboratory Technician I, you will play a crucial role in supporting our clinical research efforts by conducting phlebotomy, laboratory tests and analysis on biological samples. Your responsibilities will include processing and storing specimens, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring compliance with established protocols and safety guidelines. Meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment will contribute to the success of our research initiatives.
Responsibilities
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Perform basic laboratory tests and procedures following established protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Process and prepare biological samples (blood, tissue, urine, etc.) for analysis, storage or shipping ensuring accurate identification, labeling, and storage.
- Ensure proper functioning and calibration of laboratory equipment, including centrifuges, spectrophotometers, microscopes, and other relevant instruments per SOPs and manufacturers recommendations.
- Support compliance with temperature monitoring of lab specimens and escalate any excursions to senior lab staff and Site director.
- Conduct quality control checks and documentation to ensure accuracy and reliability of laboratory results.
- Collaborate with research team members to assist in the collection and processing of biological samples in compliance with clinical research protocols.
- Support clear documentation is kept in an organized manner.
- Adhere to strict safety protocols and maintain a clean and orderly laboratory environment.
- Assist in the inventory management of laboratory supplies ensuring an adequate stock is maintained.
- Stay updated with the latest scientific advancements and technologies relevant to the field of clinical research.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office; good written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma required; additional technical training or schooling preferred. Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Biology, Biomedical Science, or a related field) is a plus.
- One (1) to two (2) years previous laboratory or clinical experience; previous experience working in a clinical research laboratory, or a similar scientific environment is preferred but not required.
- Basic or limited knowledge of Good Clinical Practices (GCP) and other relevant regulations and guidelines such as IATA and OSHA universal precautions.
- Basic phlebotomy skills; ASCP or AMT certification is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
