We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a 2nd / 3rd Line Technical Support Engineer / IT Infrastructure Engineer who has previous hands-on experience supporting complex Microsoft O365 and Azure environments within an IT second line and third line capacity.
Working as the 2nd / 3rd Line Technical Support Engineer / IT Infrastructure Engineer you will provide advanced technical support, including assisting in the design and implementation of new architecture to support financial services colleagues, technology partners and clients.
DUTIES
- TECHNICAL SUPPORT
- Provide second and third line support against complex technical issues, including troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving incidents and service requests related to financial systems and applications across the Manchester and Liverpool offices including colleagues globally.
- Identify and resolve Microsoft O365 issues.
- Support end-users with issues related to Microsoft O365 tools and apps.
- MICROSOFT O365 ADMINISTRATION
- User and group management (e.g., Azure AD, Microsoft Entra).
- Licensing and subscriptions management including cost optimisation and budgeting.
- Administration of Microsoft core services (Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive & Microsoft Purview).
- Microsoft Purview experience beneficial.
- DOCUMENTATION
- Maintain detailed documentation of issues, resolutions, and updates to ensure accurate records and knowledge share.
- SECURITY AND COMPLIANCE
- Implement security features (MFA, conditional access, security baselines).
- Monitor and manage security alerts.
- Manage Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies and compliance tools.
- COLLABORATION AND COMMUNICATION TOOLS
- Microsoft Teams management (policies, compliance, and performance).
- SharePoint Online configuration and permissions.
- AZURE ADMINISTRATION
- Manage Azure Active Directory (Azure AD).
- Manage hybrid identities (Azure AD Connect, AD DS).
- Configure conditional access and identity protection.
- Role-based access control (RBAC) and permissions.
- Deploy and manage Virtual Machines (VM’s).
- AZURE RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
- Deploy and manage resources using Azure Resource Manager (ARM).
- Manage subscriptions, cost optimisation, and budgeting.
- NETWORKING
- Configure virtual networks, subnets, and network security groups (NSG’s).
- Manage hybrid connectivity.
- SECURITY AND MONITORING
- Azure Security Center and Defender management.
- Implement security baselines and alerts.
- Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights usage.
- AUTOMATION AND SCRIPTING
- Script with PowerShell and Azure CLI.
- Automate workflows using Azure Automation or Logic Apps.
- BACK UP AND DISASTER RECOVERY
- Azure Backup and Site Recovery configuration.
- Implementing high availability and disaster recovery strategies.
- CLOUD GOVERNANCE
- Implement Azure policies, blueprints and compliance tools.
- Manage resource tagging and organisation for better governance.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
As a 2nd / 3rd Line Technical Support Engineer / IT Infrastructure Engineer you will have the following skills and experience:
- Microsoft Windows 11, Microsoft Server 2019 and above.
- Broad experience with current operating systems (Windows 11 Pro, Linux Redhat).
- Networking, including knowledge of LAN / WAN related technologies e.g. IPv4/6, SFTP, SNMP, Hardware / Software VPN’s.
- Working knowledge of Citrix ‘on prem’ and/or Citrix cloud DAS.
- Hypervisor technologies preferably VMware (Broadcom) or XenServer (Citrix).
- Familiar with working to achieve / maintain ISO 9001 / ISO 27001 quality and security standards.
- Project management skills beneficial.
- Good leadership skills, a self-starter with a sense of urgency and an individual whose “up for a challenge”, consistently looking to learn new technologies.
- Strong awareness / familiarity with cybersecurity best practices and protocols.
- Relevant certifications such as ITIL, CompTIA, or Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) would be especially advantageous.
