Our client, a leading player in the steel industry, is seeking a Technical Support Engineer to join their dynamic team in Sheffield.

As a Technical Support Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in making our client's technical products instantly recognisable throughout the UK construction industry. You will work closely with stakeholders and offer technical support, value-added engineering options, and training to the sales and technical teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support and engineered solutions to the Sales team, Technical team, CSS and distribution network.
- Ensure the technical information is up to date and delivered according to requirements.
- Support the activities of the Internal and External sales by providing information or technical assistance as required in house and externally.
- Provide training to Sales and Technical teams and distribution network on technical products and opportunity recognition.
- Provide support and cover for the technical team as and when needed.
- Act as a point of contact for clients/engineers to develop and maintain positive relationships.
- Respond to technical and engineering requests from potential and existing clients.
- Deal with customer queries by providing answers with technical confidence and product knowledge.
- Respond to, or escalate queries regarding sales processing, invoices and credit notes to ensure client satisfaction.
- Manage CRM relating to engineering companies - sharing of information between company departments to increase engineer database.
- Providing solutions and value engineering for major construction and infrastructure projects.
- Work with external bodies to achieve certification as and when appropriate.
- Visit sites and offices to support stakeholders through the design process.
- Communicate developed solutions throughout the UK construction industry.
- Manage specific projects or undertake specific project activity as determined by the business or line manager.
- Deliver product specifications across the full technical product range.
- Promote technical portfolio to all stakeholders.
- Create specifications through engineers at the design stage to create end user sales and company profitability.
- Develop company impact at trade shows and EXPO's.
- Create opportunities and deliver presentations to design/structural engineers and contractors.
- Acquire and maintain a thorough understanding of the market position for the company's products and services to expand business technical product portfolio.
- Continually develop in-depth knowledge of the technical products.
- Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the main competitors in the industry and recommend strategies to maintain the group's position relative to the competition.
- Strategy for introducing technical products to market.
- Develop promotional material to share with sales, CSS, distribution network engineers and contractors.
- Identify areas for innovation, product development and new products.
- Research and develop potential suppliers or manufacturing possibilities.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Some travel to sites, other company locations and exhibitions will be required; therefore, a driving licence is essential. A monthly car allowance is provided to support this requirement.
- It is desirable for candidates to have a BSc in structural or civil engineering or a related qualification, and it is essential that they have the ability to read technical drawings.
- Ability to read technical drawings is essential.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proven experience in technical support or a similar role.
- Knowledge of the steel industry is advantageous.
