Our client is a leading and prestigious supplier of sustainable roots, potatoes, and organic vegetables. Due to their continuous growth and development, they are seeking to employ Technical Operators for their Sutton Bridge site to start ASAP.
Reporting directly to: Shift Leader/Production Manager.
Shifts will be:
4 on 4 off shifts 6am - 6pm
Salary: GBP12.49 per hour
Overtime: GBP15.61 per hour
Salary increases after training to GBP13.49 per hour. Breaks paid.
Key responsibilities and duties will include:
- Operating production line equipment as efficiently as possible, including changeovers.
- Carrying out required on-line quality control checks, ensuring all aspects of finished goods quality are effectively assessed.
- Dispensing on-line training and mentoring of new starters.
- Completion of relevant paperwork.
- Leading by example, promoting Health and Safety at work.
- Taking responsibility to ensure all startup/shutdown checks are carried out correctly.
- Ensuring all job information is correctly input into the ice printers, i.e., Variety, grower code, date, grower name.
- Checking all products for the correct data on the print and ensuring the correct count is placed carefully into the tray/bag.
- Ensuring all efforts are made to achieve continuous production.
- Driving GMP standards.
- Carrying out other duties as necessary to efficiently run the business.
Key requirements:
- To undertake any other duties requested by the Shift Manager.
- All lifting must be in accordance with the company manual handling procedures.
- To promote Health and Safety at work, communicating any risks to your Shift Manager.
- Able to manage the line on a day-to-day basis and achieve daily performance measures, OEE, Labour, Productivity, PPM.
- Reporting any accidents, near misses, incidents of property damage, and dangerous occurrences to your Line Manager in a timely manner.
- To operate in a hygienic manner, maintaining high standards of working and personal hygiene.
- To act as a role model for all teams and colleagues.
- Ensuring adherence to company policy and procedures.
- Responsible for setting the site Health, Safety, Energy and Environment strategy and improving site Health and Safety performance.
- Participating in Team Briefs.

- Providing feedback and delivering ideas to improve solutions relating to the company’s commercial service.
- Demonstrating good GMP and area standards.
Safety:
- Demonstrating a duty of care to yourself and others.
- Carrying out risk assessments and ensuring actions are completed to tackle hazards and reduce risks.
- Reporting any accidents, near misses, incidents of property damage, and dangerous occurrences to your Line Manager in a timely manner.
Quality:
- Carrying out required on-line quality control checks, ensuring all aspects of finished goods quality are effectively assessed, including:
- Potato Quality
- Packaging Quality
- Date code and on-pack information accuracy
- Finished outer information accuracy
- Finished pallet quantity, variety & information accuracy
Carrying out all required checkweigher/metal checks.Assessing product within the first 10 minutes of the start of a production run regarding:- Defect analysis according to customer specification
- Correct sealing parameters for pillow packs
- Correct packaging being used for production run
- Checking date codes accuracy
- Ensuring a weight is visible on the retail pack
- Ensuring compliance to either average or minimum weight
- Collecting, recording, and placing a shelf-life sample into the relevant area
- Quarantining all non-conforming products and ensuring proper documentation in the finished goods system.
Ensuring purge clean down has been completed before any organic run commences.Liaising with Line Manager if concerns arise regarding product quality.Adhering to all dress code standards and challenging non-compliance.Supporting teamwork at all times in your designated area and throughout the factory/business.Training new starters or existing operators in relevant tasks/equipment within your area.Mentoring new people regarding general standards, rules, and requirements.Performance:
- Ensuring your area and the line/equipment you operate is as efficient as possible at all times, including changeovers and wastage.
- Recording all required information accurately (downtime, quality information, etc.).
- Proactively supporting a culture of continuous improvement.
- Implementing Health & Safety measures.
- Implementing Environmental measures.

Requirements for the role:
- Experience on a high-speed packing line in a time-pressured environment.
- Understanding how to grade and assess quality in line with customer specifications.
- Attention to detail.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety reporting.
- Previous experience in FMCG and Manufacturing.
- Previous experience as a Technical Operative.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Familiarity with Navision systems.
- Good English language skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong numeracy skills.
- Exemplary spelling and grammar.
