Technical Lead - Footwear Testing

Role: Technical Lead - Footwear testing
Location: Kettering
Salary: up to £38,000.00 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hrs per week

Our client based in Kettering has a new opportunity for a Technical Lead within their Footwear department. The Technical Lead will lead and supervise a team of technologists and technicians in the Footwear Testing team ensuring compliance with quality standards, enhancing the client's brand and reputation.

Key Responsibilities

1. Daily supervision of Technicians
2. Team performance management (appraisals, disciplinary and grievance matters)
3. Managing workflow through department with emphasis on customer focus and customer awareness
4. Working with Technicians to establish deadlines and allocate jobs fairly
5. Ensure effective implementation of quality systems (working with Quality Manager and Health and Safety Advisor)
6. Create and implement staff training plans
7. Development of continuous improvement initiatives with both systems of work and individuals
8. Establish and monitor department's KPIs
9. Discussing results and new work with customers
10. Routine drafting/sending reports and responding to customer emails
11. Meeting customers and presenting seminars
12. Contributing to writing of technical articles for internal and external publication
13. Overseas travel when required

About You

Essential

1. Educated to A Level in Maths or Science
2. Familiar with physical testing techniques
3. Demonstrated organisation and planning skills
4. Supervisory experience
5. Customer facing experience
6. Confident presenter
7. Excellent time management and scheduling skills
8. Good computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
9. Ability to work on own and as part of a team
10. Highly motivated
11. Problem solving and logical thinking
12. Willingness to travel

Desirable

1. Completion of SAFT course or working towards completion
2. Degree in Maths or Science
3. Experience within a commercial environment
4. Full, clean driving licence
5. Experience of direct Sales and Marketing with exposure to business development tools and techniques
6. Footwear industry experience
