Job description

Born I in the wake of COVID, SevenTwenty is a successful and expanding exhibition contractor that prides itself on the seamless delivery of high-end bespoke build projects. We are a small team of time served exhibition professionals working across the UK, Europe and very occasionally further afield.

We are looking for a skilled technical designer with an interest in project management, building things and bringing creative designs to life. Taking projects from confirmation to site delivery, the ideal candidate will be able to liaise with clients to turn concepts into detailed drawings, communicating this information to our workshop and suppliers following projects through their full life cycle.

Much like the industry we love, we believe this position is a little niche. It might not be for everyone, but the right person will thrive and be given the opportunity to carve out their own path within our business. As such, it’s a little hard to write a detailed job description…. so, here’s some information that might help the right person decide if this is the position for them.

The exhibition industry is fast paced with little room for error, but it’s seasonal. We work quickly, we spin plates, we solve problems as we face them, and we deliver. We travel, we work away from home and during peak times long hours and weekends on-site are standard. But we always have a beer after and as soon as the industry pace drops, we slow down, take long weekends, finish early and find time for two company funded days out a year.

We work out of a converted stable in rural Worcestershire; it’s a little rustic, but we like it. We work predominantly with design agencies. They are our sales, our creatives, our designers and our account managers. We are their workshop, their makers, their problem solvers and their doers. We pride ourselves in the service level we provide.

To thrive with us in this environment it is non-negotiable that you will be interested in the sharp end of this industry, be willing to occasionally get your hands dirty, be interested in making things, be a practical thinker and problem solver. You must be organised, computer literate, have excellent technical design skills (preferably using AutoCAD), be competent using MS Excel, have a passport, driving licence and your own transport.

While we would like someone with past industry experience, this, along with your salary (and the AutoCAD thing) is negotiable. As such we are quoting a broad salary range of £27-45K a year with additional site overtime to be paid or used to increase your time off when it’s slow. We will pay your phone expenses, give you a laptop, offer a pension and a holiday allowance that we will increase with time served.

One last thing…. If you just click apply… you probably won’t hear from us.
