Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Technical Author to join a multidisciplinary engineering team working on highly specialised equipment within the nuclear sector. The role involves producing detailed documentation to support and validate complex design solutions, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and internal quality standards.
Key Responsibilities

  1. Produce design substantiation and justification reports.
  2. Create and maintain technical documents including specifications, test plans, and O&M manuals.
  3. Liaise with engineers, project managers, and quality teams to gather technical information and ensure documentation accurately reflects design intent and project requirements.
  4. Ensure all documentation complies with regulatory frameworks, including nuclear safety standards, CE/UKCA marking requirements, and fabrication codes such as ASME or EN standards.
  5. Maintain document control and version management, ensuring accurate records throughout the document lifecycle and supporting audits or regulatory reviews.

Requirements:

  1. Proven experience in Technical Author or Document Management roles
  2. Knowledge of Engineering & Manufacturing processes
  3. Eligibility for SC Clearance (British National or 5 years+ in UK)

Location: Chorley
Contract: 12-month duration
Pay: £40 - £50 per hour LTD (subject to CEST test / IR35 determination)
Working Hours: 4 day working week! Flexible Hours & Hybrid.
