Job description

Technical Assistant – Permanent – SW London – £35k – £45k DOE

This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy technical department of a reputable shipping company based South West of London.

The successful candidate will support the technical department with the maintenance, operations, and management of the fleet. The Technical Assistant will play a key role in ensuring that all vessels are maintained to the highest standards, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and helping to optimize operational efficiency.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Arrangement of Servicing / Repairs / Surveys for up to 6 Bulk Carriers
  2. Coordinating Services / Supplies with agents, vessels & departments
  3. Following up landing notes (deliveries) and landed items
  4. Administration of Vessels’ Planned Maintenance System
  5. Administration of Vessels’ Compliance with Company SMS (Forms)
  6. Assisting with Purchasing activities & Budgets
  7. Processing Invoices for servicing and supplies
  8. Maintaining office & vessels electronic databases
Experience required:
  1. A degree or diploma in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  2. Previous experience in a technical or marine-related role is an advantage, but not mandatory.
  3. Knowledge of vessel operations, maintenance, and repair processes.
  4. Familiarity with maritime regulations and safety standards (SOLAS, MARPOL, etc.).
  5. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and technical software.
  6. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  7. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
