Job description

We’re looking for a Technical Assistant to support the delivery of our events, exhibitions, and venue hires.

OVERVIEW OF THE POST

The Technical Assistant will work closely with the Technical Manager to ensure the successful delivery of all CCA activities, including venue hires and in-house events. This role requires a hands-on approach to technical production, equipment maintenance, and event coordination to uphold the highest standards of quality and efficiency.

Status: Part-time (17.5 hours)

Pay rate: £29,311 FTE

Pro Rata: £14,656

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Event Production & Technical Support
  1. Assist the Technical Manager in overseeing the technical delivery of all CCA events, including live music, theatre performances, film screenings, and community gatherings.
  2. Liaise with clients, including visiting artists, production teams, and community groups, to understand and meet their technical requirements.
  3. Operate and manage technical setups for events, including sound, lighting, and audiovisual systems.
  4. Recruit and supervise casual technical staff as required, ensuring smooth operations in the absence of the Technical Manager.
  5. Support the gallery installation team to ensure safe, efficient, and effective exhibition installations.
Maintenance & Inventory Management
  1. Assist in maintaining the highest technical and presentation standards across all CCA spaces.
  2. Ensure the safety, security, and operational efficiency of technical equipment, including sound, lighting, and staging systems.
  3. Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all technical equipment and ensure storage spaces are organised and managed effectively.
  4. Oversee the hiring and loaning of CCA equipment, ensuring compliance with insurance requirements.
General Responsibilities
  1. Adhere to CCA’s financial and commercial procedures.
  2. Work flexibly, including evenings and weekends, to support CCA’s programming and activities.
