Job description

Unity is looking for a manager to lead our graphics technical art team in Europe.

Technical artists at Unity play a vital role in improving our engine and our user experience. Your experience of production needs and artist workflows – along with your support and leadership – will help our team to shape the next generation of content creation tools in games, XR, and interactive media. Your insights and advocacy will help empower hundreds of thousands of creators to build new experiences and explore the frontiers of the medium.

Our graphics technical artists collaborate closely with some of the most talented graphics engineers and product designers on the planet. They envision new features and streamline artistic workflows related to shading, lighting, and visual effects. Their artwork is a fixture at industry events like GDC, SIGGRAPH, and Unite, helping to ensure that our engine can shine on everything from mobile phones to workstations. As manager of this team, you’ll work closely with Unity’s graphics leadership to help chart the future course of the Unity engine.

You’ll also support the technical and professional growth of our technical artists as you all collaborate together on solving tomorrow’s most challenging graphics problems. What you'll be doing

  • Contribute to Unity’s graphic strategy
  • Collaborate closely with engineers and product designers to improve the content creation experience in Unity
  • Advocate for more elegant and efficient workflows
  • Build a healthy, empowering team culture
  • Coordinate with the efforts of other Unity teams and contribute to documentation, training material, presentations, and demos

What we're looking for

  • Conversant with the state of the art in 3D graphics
  • Broad familiarity with modern 3D asset creation pipelines
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a distributed team environment
  • Have shipped two or more games as an artist or technical artist
  • Have led a team of at least six people

You might also have

  • Unity engine knowledge and/or prior experience as a technical art director
  • Shipped on mobile or XR platforms and/or production experience with VFX or lighting
  • French or Danish language skills
