Technical Application Architect

Position Description

The Space, Defence and Intelligence business unit in CGI is a true IT Systems Integrator. Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. This position will be a hybrid position, working out of our site in Leatherhead or Reading.

Your future duties and responsibilities

  1. API Development & Management: Design, develop, and edit REST APIs (XML, JSON) to support enterprise applications.
  2. Database Operations: Conduct and manage database extractions and copies to ensure data integrity and availability.
  3. Enterprise Systems Support: Collaborate on and support complex enterprise systems, troubleshooting issues and optimising performance.
  4. Technical Leadership: Guide and mentor team members on best practices in development and problem-solving approaches.
  5. Source Control Management: Utilise Subversion/Git for effective source control and version management.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role

  1. REST APIs (XML, JSON): Advanced proficiency in designing and managing RESTful APIs.
  2. SQL: Solid experience with SQL for data management and query optimisation.
  3. C#/ASP.NET: Proven expertise in building applications using C#/ASP.NET frameworks.
  4. Windows Server & Active Directory: Hands-on experience managing Windows Server environments and Active Directory services.
  5. Source Control: Proficient with Subversion/Git for maintaining codebase integrity.
  6. Enterprise Systems: Experience working on large-scale, enterprise-level systems.
  7. Problem Solving: A natural problem solver with a willingness to challenge existing approaches and propose innovative solutions.

Desired Competencies:

  1. Powershell: Basic to intermediate scripting skills to automate tasks and manage system configurations.
  2. Healthcare Applications: Experience with healthcare-specific applications (e.g., EMIS-PCS) is a plus.
  3. General Platform Knowledge: Familiarity with technologies such as SANs, McAfee, NetBackup, WSUS, etc.
  4. Infrastructure Engineering: Understanding of infrastructure engineering principles.
  5. Remote Team Collaboration: Experience working effectively in a remote team environment.
