You will join a team of Talent Acquisition Professionals who are passionate about hiring top talent that will contribute to the continued growth and success of The University of Manchester, whilst delivering high quality candidates and hiring manager experience.
Overall purpose of the role
As the Tech Talent Business Partner, you will partner with your stakeholders in IT Services to understand their business areas and teams. You will advise on market and hiring best practices across all IT related roles. You will own and deliver the end-to-end recruitment projects from attraction, sourcing, interviewing through to offer whilst raising the employer brand on the IT Services Team. Reporting to the Head of Talent Acquisition and working closely with ITS leaders and managers; ITS Planning Team; EDI Directorate, central People team and the wider Talent team.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities
- Proactively identify and engage tech talent through direct sourcing methods, events and communities. Build and maintain talent pools.
- Support the ITS managers and ITS Planning on hiring plans and projects to attract the best tech talent.
- Always hire with diversity, equity and inclusion in mind, supporting line managers on unconscious bias interviews.
- Understand candidates' motivations, career aspirations and experience through great listening and questioning. Provide excellent, highly engaged candidate experience.
- Maintain specialist market understanding across IT Services, benchmarking and what top talent look for in an organisation they join.
- Lead on your departments team marketing and brand proposition.
- Report on hiring metrics and applicant data to inform future hiring decisions. Present this in engaging ways to your stakeholders.
- Support the hiring team on how best to use our ATS and provide training where necessary.
- Contribute to People team projects, in particular, ED&I, early talent, and employee experience.
- Work with our HRBP and ITS Planning team to scope out future demand across the IT Services team.
- Supplier management of partnerships and external agencies, ensuring we are maximising these and contribute to our PSL review.
- Continuous process and ways of working improvement.
Person specification
- Talent Acquisition expertise: Proven track record of Tech TA excellence, with a focus on direct sourcing, engaging passive candidates and advising on interviews across Architecture, ERP, Data, CRM, Platform Engineering, etc.
- Solutions oriented and proactive: Spots opportunities to drive improvement and works to provide different solutions where needed. We welcome new ideas and suggestions.
- Communication and Stakeholder Relationship Management: Excellent ability to build relationships at Leadership Level. Skilled in collaboration, questioning and listening.
- Data oriented: ability to interpret talent related data and share this with stakeholders in an articulate way.
- ED&I Knowledge: Keeps up to the minute knowledge in the ED&I space and how this impacts TA, is able to advise on this when hiring.
- Knowledge of the candidate market: This role covers technology, data and analytics, so experience recruiting in some of these areas is required as well as an in-depth knowledge of the North West technology market.
- Technology knowledge: Extensive experience of using ATS's, (we use JobTrain), LinkedIn Recruiter and other sourcing tools.
