Job description

A&P Tyne Team Leader, Fabrication - 6 month fixed term contract, 12 hour nights and 12 hour days

This is an opportunity to make a significant impact on our fabrication work, part of a project of national significance, while working with and learning from a team of experts.

We're launching a new project that will be both challenging and demanding, so we are looking for Team Leaders to join us for 6 months to provide vital guidance and instruction to our Welders and Platers.

Critical roles as part of our wider team managing this heavily labour-intensive project where on-time delivery is critical. Could this be you?

Who are A&P Tyne?

With the largest fabrication facilities on the East coast of England, we can build units for vessels, and also join them together.

Within our 24,000 square metre Fabrication Hall, where you will be based, we have a high bay construction hall for our new builds, a panel line, profile cutting, and sub-assembly areas.

Using in-house capabilities to maintain tight project control, we work closely together with our customers to deliver what they need, as they need it, when they need it.

So what will you do?

  • Oversee and coordinate the work of our Coded Welders or Platers who are working to strict industry standards.
  • Instruct and guide your team as needed.
  • Lead and motivate your team to achieve project goals, prioritising and scheduling tasks.
  • Coordinate the team to complete daily and weekly targets, fostering a positive, supportive, and efficient workplace.
  • Log activities, including project details, timings, and quality control reports.
  • Enforce safety to ensure that everyone goes home safe and well.
  • Identify training needs and opportunities for skill development and ensure they are followed up.
  • Address any equipment malfunctions promptly.

A great opportunity for someone who has a trade and is looking for the level of responsibility that comes with leading a team.

And what are we looking for?

  • Team leading experience of projects and teams.
  • Understanding of heavy fabrication.
  • Competence in using Microsoft packages such as Word and Excel.
  • Trade trained ideally as a Plater/Fabricator or Welder.
  • 12 hours per shift of either:

0700 – 1900hrs Dayshift Monday to Friday or 1900 – 0700hrs Nightshift Monday to Saturday.

Benefits

  • Personal Growth - This is an opportunity to make a significant impact while working with and learning from a team of experts from the marine and structural engineering industries.
  • Financial Security - Important benefits include your Pension with a monthly employer contribution by A&P Tyne up to 4% and Life cover at 7 x your basic salary.
  • Healthy Living - We support healthy living and provide help when needed, offering sick pay and a health cash plan for everyday healthcare costs.
  • Work-life Balance - 25 days of annual leave plus Bank Holidays, with support for maternity, paternity, and parental leave.

Note: Due to the nature of our work, some roles at A&P are subject to security control restrictions. Factors such as nationality and place of birth may limit the roles you can perform with us.

You must also undergo a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check before your employment starts, which will include a basic DBS check.
