Waking Night Team Leader of Residential Children's Home

Location: Sutton

Salary: £31,500 - £33,280 (Full time equivalent)

Hours: Full Time - 8pm - 8am (4 waking night shifts a week)

Contract Type: Permanent

The Role:

Caridon Young Living is a residential children's home for 11- to 18-year-olds based in Sutton. We are looking for a waking night Team Leader for the home.

The Team Leader will be responsible for the effective running of the residential home during the night and will report to the Registered Manager for effective handover of the night service. The Team Leader will be responsible for a team of waking night staff, as well as undertaking direct work with children in the residential home. To be responsible for all aspects of the residential premises during the night.

This is a full-time role, and you will be required to work 4 shifts per week across a 7-day rota. The shift pattern is 8pm - 8am.

You will be required to complete supervisions with all support staff at your service on a monthly basis.

Main purpose of Job Role:

To be responsible for the effective running of the residential home during the night and for managing a team of staff and work allocations, as well as undertaking direct work with children in the residential home when necessary. To be responsible for all aspects of the residential premises.

The main duties of this role include:

  1. Support the Registered Manager in ensuring compliance with company Policy and Procedures and meeting all OFSTED regulations.
  2. Manage the home during the night as well as directing a team of night staff.
  3. Safeguard and promote the welfare and development of the children in the home.
  4. Ensure that the young people's needs are recognised and met where possible, challenging discrimination within and outside the home.
  5. Ensure that the home meets the individual needs of the child as well as the needs of the group.
  6. Provide a safe and sensitive environment for the children being looked after.
  7. Support children in stressful situations or crises.
  8. Manage and report any incidents during the night for the day staff handover, including writing incident reports and updating support and behaviour plans.
  9. Effectively manage and report missing episodes.
  10. Ensure all staff under supervision complete training in accordance with their induction training schedule and Personal Development Plan.
  11. Conduct supervisions.
  12. Be aware of Health and Safety regulations related to the upkeep of the building and surroundings.
  13. Undertake any other duties that may be reasonably requested.

The above is not an exhaustive list of duties, and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role within the organisation and the overall objectives of Caridon Young Living.

Special Conditions:

  1. This post requires the holder to do varying shifts.
  2. The post holder is required to work weekends as part of a rota and Bank Holidays when required.
  3. Occasionally, you may be requested to change your rota at short notice to ensure service contingencies are covered.
  4. In accordance with Health and Safety guidelines, accept responsibility for working within these guidelines and reporting any concerns to the Manager.
  5. Undertake other duties appropriate to the grade of the post and the needs of the Home, such as decorating or gardening, to maintain service delivery.
  6. This post requires the holder to have an Enhanced DBS check at all times.

Qualifications:

  1. Hold the Health and Social Care Level 3 qualification, or be working towards it, or hold the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Health and Social Care Children and Young People's Services.
  2. Previous management experience.
