Team Leader -Specialist Medical Engineer

Job Summary

This job aims to provide an efficient service for the day-to-day maintenance, repair, testing and commissioning of medical and surgical equipment used within all departments of WVT and other recognised health fields as directed by the Manager. Working with the team comfortably and leading and supporting them will be an integral part of the job role.

Main Duties of the Job

To be professionally and technically competent to work autonomously as a Team Leader - Specialist Medical Engineer. Must have experience working with and leading a Medical Engineering team and supporting the departmental transformation to embrace quality at all levels. Responsible for internal training and leading all Engineers and MEL Technicians. Prioritise tasks, allocate work and support the team when needed. Deputise the manager for all departmental operational and management activities in their absence or when needed by them. To do PPMs and repair at the wards or remote locations, including Community Hospitals, DN locations, hospices, etc.

Essential

• IEC 60601 or 62353 Training
• Continued Professional Development in an engineering field for five years

Desirable

• Holds State Registration or Honours Degree in Clinical Technology
• 'E-quip' software OEM Training

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Essential

• Good communication skills
• Able to diagnose and repair faults on critical Medical Equipment
• Equipment Training on various medical devices

Desirable

• Has mechanical/electronic/electrical knowledge.

Experience

Essential

• Proven experience as an EBME Team Leader
• Five years of experience working in an Acute Hospital environment

Desirable

• IT knowledge, experience
