Job description

Recruitment information for a Team Leader Health, Safety & Wellbeing position at North East Water.

Position Information

  • $104,078 to $116,623 plus 11.5% superannuation, depending on skills and experience
  • 38 hours per week

Location

  • Primarily based in Wodonga.
  • Field based work is occasionally required.

The Team Leader Health, Safety and Wellbeing will lead, develop, and maintain an environment for our people that is safe, healthy and supports the expansion of our people’s skills and knowledge.

This role is a full-time, ongoing opportunity including flexible work options.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain the Occupational Health and Safety Management System that is certified against the International Standard ISO45001:2018.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop the Health, Safety and Wellbeing team.
  • Work alongside the Wellbeing & Injury Management Advisor to support the implementation of psychological safety processes focusing on employee mental health and wellbeing.
  • Cultivate a positive safety culture through promoting awareness, safety engagement and accountability.
  • Prepare and deliver board reports that highlight health, safety and wellbeing metrics and data.
  • Develop policies, procedures, systems, and processes as required to control hazards and risks.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits, and workplace inspections.
  • Manage OHS incident reporting and undertake investigations including the development of preventative and corrective actions in consultation with relevant staff.
  • Ensure continuous improvement initiatives based on feedback, incidents, or changes in the operational environment.
  • Support the Wellbeing & Injury Management Advisor through championing employee wellbeing initiatives, ideas, and programs.
  • Assist and support return to work and PIAWE processes.
  • Build positive workplace relationships with all stakeholders including contractors, to gain cooperation and assistance in achieving desired outcomes and resolving specialist matters.
  • Appropriately handle matters of a sensitive and confidential nature with a high degree of discretion, confidentiality, and integrity.
  • Undertake project and contractor site audits and inspections, including reviewing contractor health and safety plans and inducting contractors as required.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in health and safety, keeping up to date with laws and regulations to ensure compliance.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Your proven ability to build rapport with employees and effective working relationships with colleagues, supervisors, and management.
  • High level of communication skills, both written and verbal with the ability to write and present formal reports to management.
  • Your demonstrated experience in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of OHS management systems and associated safe work procedures.
  • Your working knowledge and understanding of the OHS regulatory framework, principles, and practices with a proven ability to investigate workplace incidents or hazards.
  • Nationally recognised formal OHS qualification.
