Salary from £49,998 to £55,416 pa, depending on skills and experience
Plus lease car or cash alternative of up to £3,050 pa
Permanent – Full time – 37 hours per week
Location: Ashford, Kent

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced environmental health professional looking to lead a dedicated team and drive excellence in food safety, health & safety, and public health licensing.

About the Role

As a Team Leader, you will lead and manage a team responsible for food safety, health & safety, infectious disease control, animal establishment licensing, and public health initiatives along with ensuring compliance with food hygiene and safety regulations, conducting specialist and high-risk inspections.

Other duties include:

1. Support and develop team members through training, performance management, and professional guidance.
2. Advise and collaborate with internal departments, external agencies, and key stakeholders on food safety policies and enforcement.
3. Develop and implement policies, inspection programmes, and enforcement procedures to enhance public health.
4. Represent the Council at meetings, tribunals, and in court proceedings when necessary.

To be competent in this role it is essential that you have a degree/diploma in Environmental Health (or equivalent) and hold a Certificate of Registration with the Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB) or equivalent. You will be required to have:

• Extensive post-qualification experience in food safety and health & safety.
• Experience managing/supervising staff and enforcing health & safety regulations.
• Strong communication, leadership, and IT skills.
