Team Leader - Fabrication (Brandesburton)

*(This is a working Team Leader role, adding value to the department output which will involve a large proportion of the time being a welder/fabricator)

We are currently seeking an experienced Team Leader - Fabrication, to join our client, a leading modular building specialist based in East Yorkshire.

As the Team Leader - Fabrication, you will work for and report to the Senior Supervisor and be responsible for ensuring all operatives are actively engaged to meet high safety, quality and environmental standards as well as meeting required output targets.

Responsibilities as Team Leader - Fabrication:

  • You are responsible for monitoring, enforcing and compliance of all aspects of Safety, Environmental and Quality whilst encouraging high standards of adherence and compliance.
  • Ensure your Teams areas are kept in a safe and tidy condition and items are reported outside of your control to the Senior Supervisor.
  • Ensure all sub-contractors adhere to all the companies SHEQ Requirements while on site.
  • Support the Senior Supervisor to conduct accident and near miss investigations and close out of any actions.
  • Ensure all the teams are trained adequately and have read all Risk assessments and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Working Safely, ensuring PPE is correct and worn properly. Up to date SOP’s should be followed at all times. TBT to be delivered to your team in a timely manner. Always keep the work area clean and tidy. High levels of housekeeping are to be maintained.

Production Responsibilities

  • Organise, control, and direct the activities of production operatives on that shift.
  • Organise and control the work within the section in accordance with the production plan and priorities as defined by the Senior Supervisor.
  • Ensure that work is completed within the allocated time and the planned customer requirement date.
  • Control and manage Indirect Hours.
  • Ensure that all material is used effectively, safely and is stored correctly within your team’s department.
  • Ensure that the job has target hours set and controlled to budget across your team.
  • Ensure that all plant, equipment, and tools within the department are maintained, working in conjunction with the Maintenance department and Senior Supervisor.
  • Ensure job packs are completed in a timely manner and are signed off at each stage of handover.
  • Report to and getting direction from the Senior Supervisor.
  • Stand in when necessary to cover the Senior Supervisor when he is not available.

HR Responsibilities

  • Control attendance and absence keeping the Senior Supervisor informed.
  • Resolve any conflicts within your team and keep the Senior Supervisor informed and get support if required.
  • Maintain discipline within the section using the company policies and processes where necessary.
  • Ensure that new / transferred employees deployed within the section are inducted in accordance with the company procedures and are made aware of SHEQ guidance and precautions within your area of responsibility.
  • Ensure that production operatives are trained in tasks being performed within the section using the company’s training process.
  • Support the Senior Supervisor with disciplinary reviews, including return to work interviews and other minor disciplinary hearings
  • To Identify Training Needs with the Senior Supervisor and HR Department when applicable.
  • Any other HR requirement considered necessary to manage your section.

Requirements as Team Leader - Fabrication:

  • Trade relevant qualifications / Time served
  • CSCS (preferred)
  • Driving Licence (preferred)
  • Recognised Training (Desirable)
  • 1st Aid (Desirable)
  • Understanding of Health and safety (IOSH Certified or working towards)
  • Strong Discipline & experience in the field is essential
  • Great attention to detail
  • Ability to work accurately from drawings
  • Understanding of Labour Variance and Unproductive Reports
  • Understanding of Health and safety (Working towards IOSH)

  • Fabrication: 2 years (required)
  • Team Leading: 2 years (required)

Licence/Certification:

  • Driving Licence (preferred)
  • CSCS (preferred)
  • IOSH (preferred)
