Job Overview

The Central Monmouthshire Integrated Service Team work across Monmouthshire to enable people to remain independent in their own homes through the provision of community-based health and social care services.

We are looking for an experienced, motivated and enthusiastic Team lead Occupational Therapist to join the Central Monmouthshire Integrated Services based at Monnow Vale community hospital.

As Lead Occupational Therapist, you will provide clinical and professional leadership to therapists within the Integrated Team, as well as being an integral part of the wider multidisciplinary service comprising Social Work, Physiotherapy, District nursing and our reablement service. You will be expected to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with a range of professionals and community organisations, in order to support individuals who access our service.

You will have day-to-day operational management of Occupational therapy staff delivering interventions for individuals living in the community and inpatients ward in Monnow Vale Community Hospital along with delivery clinical interventions to a designated caseload.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

You will demonstrate excellent OT practice knowledge and provide specialist assessment for people requiring Occupational therapy.

You will be a role model, providing expert practitioner advice and you will demonstrate leadership at team, service and senior platforms as well as supporting strategic developments within the wider service.

Applicant requirements

You must have appropriate UK professional registration. This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service. Welsh language skills are desirable.

Qualifications And Knowledge
Essential criteria

• OT degree or diploma
• Member of HCPC
• At least 1 module (CQFW level 7 at 20/30 credits each) or post-registration equivalent linked to practice.
• Accredited practice placement educator
• Certificate in Leadership and/or Management or equivalent experience

Desirable criteria

• Member of relevant COT Specialist Section.

Experience
Essential criteria

• Extensive experience in working within practice setting.
• Some experience of operational management
• Significant experience working at Senior OT level
• Significant experience of supervising less experienced OTs
• Involvement in planning local service delivery.

Desirable criteria

• Line management responsibilities
• Experience of research and/or audit

Skills and Attributes
Essential criteria

• Ability to assess, plan and implement highly specialised treatment and advice in specialist area related to post.
• Able to analyse and reflect on clinical practice and use this to shape future practice
• Negotiation and problem-solving skills utilised within OT and wider MDT teams
• Able to develop and implement standards to support best clinical practice across the department
• Understanding of local integrated systems of OT delivery
• Evidence of relevant and appropriate CPD
