About the Role

As a Teaching Assistant (TA), you will be a vital part of students' journeys, helping them excel in their coursework while fostering personal growth. In this vital role, you will work closely with a specific pupil, offering tailored assistance to ensure they can fully engage with the curriculum and school life. Responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant (TA):

  • Provide one-on-one and small-group support to a specific student, assisting with academic tasks and promoting engagement in classroom activities.
  • Implement tailored strategies and interventions to support the student's individual learning needs and goals.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages the student's social, emotional and academic growth.
  • Monitor and record the student's progress, providing regular feedback to teachers, parents and relevant professionals.
  • Assist the class teacher in developing and maintaining Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and personalised learning programmes.
  • Promote the student's independence and self-confidence, encouraging active participation in school activities.
  • Collaborate with the wider school team to ensure a consistent and supportive approach to the student's education.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have prior experience working with children or young people in an educational setting.
  • Possess a strong understanding of individualised learning strategies and effective techniques to support diverse learning needs.
  • Have good organisational abilities, strong communication and classroom management skills and the capacity to run a classroom efficiently.
  • Have the ability to work effectively as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive approach.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
