Job Title: Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Basingstoke
Salary Range: £13.68 - £14.88 per hour (Depending on experience)
Start time: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming school in Basingstoke, a well-regarded and inclusive school, seeking a committed Teaching Assistant (TA) to support children. If you are passionate about helping children achieve their potential, we’d love to hear from you!

Role Overview:

As a Teaching Assistant (TA), you will play a vital role in the classroom, providing support to both teachers and students. You will assist in lesson delivery, offer one-on-one or small-group support and help foster a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant (TA):

  • Support the teacher in planning and delivering engaging and interactive lessons.
  • Work closely with students, particularly those requiring additional learning support.
  • Promote positive behaviour and ensure a safe and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Assist with classroom management and preparation of learning materials.
  • Provide emotional and academic support to pupils, fostering confidence and independence.
  • Liaise with teachers and parents to monitor student progress.
  • Contribute to extracurricular activities and school-wide initiatives.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar educational support role.
  • Knowledge of the curriculum and effective teaching support strategies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Patience, empathy and an understanding of how to support children’s individual needs.
  • A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant Certificate) is desirable but not essential.
  • Commitment to professional development and the ability to adapt to new teaching techniques and practices.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
