Job Title: Teaching Assistant – Speech and Language Interventions

Location: Rochdale, Lancashire

Job Type: Full Time, 8:30 am – 3:30 pm

Remuneration: £90 per day

DBS Requirement: Must have a DBS on the update service

Start Date: Immediate

Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant with specialized experience in speech and language interventions to join our team in Rochdale, Lancashire. Our school is launching a new Speech and Language Base to support our students' communication needs, and we require an individual who can contribute effectively to this initiative.

Key Responsibilities

1. Implement individual and group speech and language intervention programs designed by Speech and Language Therapists.
2. Deliver phonics sessions, adapting to the needs of different students, and demonstrating flexibility in teaching styles.
3. Track and record student progress, providing feedback to both the therapy team and parents as required.
4. Assist in the creation and maintenance of a positive, structured learning environment that supports individual student needs.
5. Collaborate with teachers and the Special Educational Needs Coordinator to tailor learning activities that facilitate inclusive education practices.
6. Use excellent spoken and written English to model appropriate language use within the educational setting.
7. Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in speech and language pedagogy.
8. Any other tasks related to the role within the scope of the candidate’s abilities and the school’s requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

1. Experience in delivering speech and language interventions, with a robust understanding of speech and language development.
2. Proven track record of working with children who have speech, language, and communication needs.
3. Sound knowledge and experience with phonics instruction.
4. Evidence of ability to establish good working relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
5. Excellent spoken and written English communication skills.
