Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant with specialized experience in speech and language interventions to join our team in Rochdale, Lancashire. Our school is launching a new Speech and Language Base to support our students' communication needs, and we require an individual who can contribute effectively to this initiative.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement individual and group speech and language intervention programs designed by Speech and Language Therapists.
- Deliver phonics sessions, adapting to the needs of different students, and demonstrating flexibility in teaching styles.
- Track and record student progress, providing feedback to both the therapy team and parents as required.
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of a positive, structured learning environment that supports individual student needs.
- Collaborate with teachers and the Special Educational Needs Coordinator to tailor learning activities that facilitate inclusive education practices.
- Use excellent spoken and written English to model appropriate language use within the educational setting.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in speech and language pedagogy.
- Any other tasks related to the role within the scope of the candidate’s abilities and the school’s requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience in delivering speech and language interventions, with a robust understanding of speech and language development.
- Proven track record of working with children who have speech, language, and communication needs.
- Sound knowledge and experience with phonics instruction.
- Evidence of ability to establish good working relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Excellent spoken and written English communication skills.
