Job Title: Teaching Assistant for Secondary School

Location: Fareham, Hampshire
Salary: £12.82 per hour
Start Date: Immediate or after Easter 2025
Contract Type: Full-Time (Part-Time can also be arranged for the right candidate)

As a Teaching Assistant (TA) in a secondary mainstream school, you will provide essential support to both students and teachers, ensuring a positive and engaging learning environment. You will work closely with students, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. Responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant (TA):

• Support students in the classroom, working alongside teachers to enhance learning experiences.
• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students who require additional assistance.
• Assist with lesson preparation, classroom activities, and behaviour management.
• Work with students with special educational needs (SEN), social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, or those who require extra academic support.
• Encourage and motivate students, helping them build confidence and independence.
• Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, ensuring all students feel supported.
• Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and support staff.

Requirements of the Teaching Assistant (TA):

• Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar educational support role.
• Knowledge of the curriculum and effective teaching support strategies.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students and staff.
• Uni students and fresh graduates are also encouraged to apply.
• Patience, empathy and an understanding of how to support children’s individual needs.
• A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant Certificate) is desirable but not essential.
• Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
